Bay Bridge Watch is a free app that shows live traffic conditions for the US 50 / Chesapeake Bay Bridge corridor in Maryland. It is built and run by one person. This page explains what the app does and does not collect.

No accounts, no personal information

There is nothing to sign up for. The app never asks for your name, email address, phone number, or location, and it does not use your device's GPS.

What is collected

To understand how many people use the app and which features matter, the app records a small set of anonymous usage events:

• A random identifier generated on your device the first time you open the app. It is not tied to you, your phone, or any account, and it is the only thing that connects one visit to the next.
• Which screens and cameras are opened, and which app features are tapped.
• The date and time of those events.

This data is stored in a database on Cloudflare, the service that hosts the app. It is used only to run and improve the app. It is never sold, shared, or used for advertising. Clearing the app's site data or uninstalling the app removes the identifier from your device.

No ads, no third-party trackers

The app contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking code from other companies.

Traffic data and camera video

Traffic speeds, incidents, closures, and camera imagery come directly from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration CHART system. Camera video and snapshots are shown live and are never recorded or stored by Bay Bridge Watch. Your device loads that imagery directly from Maryland's servers, which are subject to the State of Maryland's own policies.

Tips

The website offers an optional way to leave a tip through PayPal. If you choose to do that, the payment happens entirely on PayPal's site under PayPal's privacy policy. Bay Bridge Watch records only that a tip button was tapped and the amount shown on it, never who tapped it.

Children

The app is a general-audience traffic tool and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the update will be posted on this page with a new date. Questions can be sent to the developer email address listed on the app's Google Play page.
